Through the Boards, Commissions, and organizations in the church, members of Bethel AME Church provide ministry in several areas:

 

COMMUNITY OUTREACH:

 

Bethel provides consistent, generous support to people in need in the community by:

 

• Making monthly deliveries of food to the ACTS Hunger Prevention Center. Our goal is to provide a ton of food this year, and we are on course to achieve and exceed that goal.

 

• Supporting a local elementary school with urgently needed supplies, such as face masks, hand sanitizer, tissues, and sanitizing wipes.

 

• Providing support to local families in need with special meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

 

• Contributing to relief efforts in response to disasters in many areas, including Haiti, Louisiana, and the Gulf Coast.

 

• Collaborating with the local Salvation Army by serving as bell ringers during the Christmas season and providing gifts to children via the Angel Tree program.

 

We invite people anywhere in the world to join us for fellowship at any of our events, such as:

 

• Special Programs for Watch Night, Holy Week and Easter, and Christmas. Check our web page for announcements of dates and times.
• Open Mic programs. Bethel periodically hosts open mic events that allow members, friends, visitors, and others to share presentations of poetry, prose, songs, and stories.
• Game Nights. On occasion, Bethel members gather for sessions of friendly competition and fun playing games such as Bible Outburst, chess, board games, etc.
• Jesus, Jeans & Jerseys Sunday. Participants wear jerseys representing their favorite teams while we worship, share in fellowship, and watch a football game.
• Juneteenth Poetry Jam. We celebrated Juneteenth with an on-line poetry jam including participants from our local area, other states, and other countries. Read Christian Recorder articles published that include a recording of the program under the Media section of this webpage.

 

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH:

 

In addition to our weekly worship services on Sunday, we also have:

 

• Weekly Bible study which offers an opportunity for focused attention on Scripture and discussion of its meaning and application in our daily lives.  See the link on our home page to join.

 

• Triumphant Tuesday conference calls where participants take time to share praise reports, testimonies, and requests for corporate prayer in intercession for needs expressed.  The conference call number is listed on our home page.

 

• Lenten Studies. During the 40 days of Lent, members and friends read a book chosen for the season and share insights, reflections, and prayers during daily conference calls.
